Friends of the bridegroom (FOTB) are a group of non-denominational believers looking for intimacy with the Bridegroom. We seek to stand in God's presence in prayer and the Word and as witnesses we want to hear and respond to the Bridegroom King. We believe that the original vision of church was and is organic. An organic church is a living, breathing, dynamic, every member functioning, Messiah centred organism.....
We also believe that it is time to engage in a heart process with the Almighty and we actively encourage other believers to experience the embrace of the Bridegroom King and to be ready for his return. As part of this forerunner ministry feel free to access the websites resources and use them for personal and communal growth.
Be blessed!
Background to the term “Friends of the Bridegroom”
Traditionally in Ancient Israel, the first stage of a marriage was called a betrothal. The bride was consecrated and set apart for a period of time while the bridegroom was away building the house (or bridal chamber). Before the bridegroom could go and get his betrothed bride, the groom’s father had to be satisfied that every preparation had been made by his son. During the interval the betrothed bride was to wait eagerly for the return of the bridegroom. After a substantial time had lapsed the father of the groom would send his son to fetch his betrothed bride. The groom would appoint “two witnesses” or Friends of the bridegroom. One would attend to the groom and the other would attend to the bride. Friends of the bridegroom would return for the bride at her father’s home and declare “behold the bridegroom comes” to the sound of the shofar. The time of the return of the groom was usually at midnight.
